A Break In The Static
I'm not quite sure where the past six weeks since I've blogged have gone.
I think those weeks have tumbled rapidly down the side of a cliff, leaving nothing but baffled clouds of dust and the sound of tinkling glass.
No more dates - didn't even hear back from the guy. So to him (wherever he may be, in physical reality or inside his own head) I wish him the very best of futures, and the courtesy newsflash that it is certainly his loss.
Work has been insanely busy, with very long, hot and exhausting hours for the most part. Though as of this past Monday I've been made permanent (Hooray! Annual leave! Sick days! Paid public holidays!) and I told management that I would no longer be working such stupid hours. At the moment I'm 8-4, which may change (to earlier arrive and leave) depending on possible staff movements. Regardless, the very healthy injection of funds has been most welcome, beneficial and incredible fun!
I posted at Segullah this week, the subject of which will be revisited (quite regularly) here in the future.
I didn't send a single Christmas card to anyone in Australia, though through the powers of the internet and a sensational coupon code I sent two handfuls off around America. Good fun, and brilliant photos by Tasha.
Today was Wong's eleventh birthday. There will be a post about that as well, in addition to one about Christmas at my place this year (the lead up, not the actual day). So much to write about.
For now, I'm beat. I'm happy, and hoping the clouds will bear fruit this weekend so I can just lie with my eyes closed and listen to the rain chat with the roof and windows between hugs with my boyos.
That, and eat cake tomorrow afternoon to celebrate Wong's birthday. A day late and you know what? Nobody cares! Not me, not Wong, so all is well with my shifting perfectionist tendencies and those in my home.

Here's to rain, better work ours, good pay and Wong's birthday... and to men who have the courtesy to at least say "no thanks". *clinks glasses*
Please insert the missing 'h' above in hours...
